Ministry Update - July '09

02 July, 2009

Dear Prayer Partners,

As I write this I am thankful for a lovely fire in the fireplace behind me to offset the dreary and constant chill of the past few weeks. My feet were like ice this morning and the hot coffee I guzzled didn’t quite make it all the way down into my toes. Doesn’t quite sound like your usual image of Africa, does it? Moving Prayer Forward in the Community

19 June, 2009

by Hope Carter, HOPE For AIDS Prayer Coordinator for SIM Kenya

They spent the first few days ministering at three schools in Nairobi’s notorious Kibera slum, and then spent the rest of the week with us at Kijabe ministering to sick children and their families at the hospital, visiting Rift Valley Academy and bringing encouragement and friendship to the students and staff of local schools and child-focused ministries. They also brought encourage...

"Mostly Dead Is Not All Dead" - Billy Crystal, Princess Bride

The following article was written by our good friend and colleague at Kijabe Hospital, Dr. Steve Letchford:

Kijabe Hospital’s Christian ICU nurses love their jobs, and get excited by the reality that “mostly dead is not all dead!” Their job is to move quickly to give their “mostly dead” patients a chance to live again. Last week, John was “mostly dead” – no blood pressure, no breathing, no response. His nurse moved quickly, however, called the rest of us to help, and this week John is smiling, eating and reading abo...
